Health benefits of oats and chia seeds:
Oats: Oats are rich in beta-glucan, a soluble fiber which is beneficial in a number of ways. It regulates your blood sugar levels, lowers bad cholesterol and improves cardiovascular health, if consumed frequently. Moreover, they abound in proteins, fibers and minerals.
Chia seeds: Chia seeds are a rich source of Omega 3 and Omega 6 and contain more calcium than milk and other dairy product. They also promote cardiovascular health, lower high cholesterol levels and have anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Chia seeds have regenerative properties as well, which makes them extremely beneficial for people suffering from arthritis and high-performance athletes.
Recipe: Breakfast with oats and chia seeds
This may be the most delicious, nutritious and energizing breakfast you’ll ever make. (2 portions)
Ingredients:
- 1 cup oatmeal.
- 500 ml of water.
- 2 tsp. vanilla.
- 1 tsp. cinnamon powder.
- 2 tbsp. honey.
- 1 pinch of salt sea.
- 4 tbsp. chia seeds.
Add the water, cinnamon and vanilla in a pot and bring it to boil. Once it starts simmering reduce it to low heat and add the oats. Leave it to simmer for 5 minutes and set it aside. Cover it and leave it for 5 minutes to soak. Add the honey and the salt and mix it all well. Pour it in a bowl while it’s still hot and add the chia seeds. Mix it all in and enjoy your high-energy breakfast. You could add some fruits as well, per taste, such as bananas, strawberries, apple, or eat it plain. It’s delicious both ways!
